VSS Unity reached space for the first time in December 2018 with pilots Mark Stucky and Rick Sturckow. A second flight added Beth Moses in the cabin, and Unity 21 transferred the program's spaceflight operations to Spaceport America in New Mexico.

Unity 22 flew a fully occupied evaluation crew including founder Richard Branson, and Unity 25 completed the final assessment before commercial service. Galactic 01 then opened the commercial sequence with an Italian research mission, followed by private-astronaut and research flights at roughly monthly intervals through early 2024.

Galactic 07 closed Unity's flight career in June 2024 with private participants and human-tended research. Across the sequence, the vehicle demonstrated a hybrid model: experienced pilots, cabin instructors, private customers, national researchers, and scientists sharing a winged suborbital platform.
