Bio
Usachov graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute and worked at Energia before cosmonaut selection. His engineering background fit the Mir era, where crews needed to maintain aging station hardware, perform EVAs, and adapt to international experiments and visiting spacecraft.
His first two flights, Soyuz TM-18 and Soyuz TM-23, were long-duration Mir . He later flew STS-101 during ISS assembly, then launched on STS-102 and returned on STS-105 as of Expedition 2.
Usachov's flight list should be four spaceflights, with Mir EO-15, Mir EO-21, and Expedition 2 treated as context inside the transport missions. His career is one of the clearest bridges between Russian station experience and early ISS operations.
