Bio
Onufriyenko trained as a pilot before selection to the cosmonaut corps in 1989. His first flight placed him in the late Mir era, where station crews needed strong repair, maintenance, and EVA capability.
Soyuz TM-23 carried Onufriyenko to Mir EO-21 in 1996. He later commanded 4 on the International Space Station, launching on STS-108 and returning on STS-111 with Carl Walz and Daniel Bursch.
His mission record is two spaceflights, not separate cards for Mir EO-21 and Expedition 4. The EVA total and cross-station experience make him one of the key Russian operators linking Mir practice to ISS operations.
