Bio
Malenchenko trained as a military pilot before selection to the cosmonaut corps in 1987. He entered long-duration spaceflight during the Mir era and remained active deep into the mature ISS period.
His first mission, Soyuz TM-19, was a long Mir expedition. He later flew STS-106 during ISS outfitting, commanded or served on several Soyuz ISS missions, and became known for both extensive work and extraordinary cumulative time in orbit.
Malenchenko's record needs transport missions rather than separate expedition cards: Expedition 7, 16, 32, and 46 are station increments inside Soyuz flights. Across six missions he logged 827 days, 9 hours, 20 minutes and six EVAs.
