Bio
Readdy graduated from the United States Naval Academy and became a naval aviator and test pilot. That operational background led NASA to use him as both shuttle pilot and .
He piloted STS-42 and STS-51, then commanded STS-79, a Shuttle-Mir docking mission that exchanged long-duration crew members with Mir. His flight record spans Spacelab research, payload deployment, and international station operations.
After his flight career, Readdy served in NASA management, including Associate Administrator for Space Flight.
