Terry J. Hart
Terry Jonathan Hart is an American engineer, Air Force Reserve officer, pilot, and former NASA astronaut. Selected with NASA Astronaut Group 8 in 1978, he flew during the shuttle program's early operational phase.

Bio
Hart came to NASA with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and military aviation experience. That background fit the role, where astronauts needed to operate payloads, robotics, and spacecraft systems.
His only spaceflight was STS-41-C in 1984 aboard Challenger. Hart helped operate the Remote Manipulator System during a mission that deployed LDEF and repaired the Solar Maximum Mission satellite.
STS-41-C became one of the shuttle's defining early satellite-servicing flights. Hart's robotic-arm work placed him in the middle of the shuttle's development as a practical orbital work platform.
After NASA, Hart returned to engineering, business, and academic work. His career reflects the shuttle-era blend of technical expertise and operational flexibility.
