Steven Wayne Lindsey
Steven Wayne Lindsey is a retired United States Air Force colonel, test pilot, and former NASA astronaut. He flew five shuttle missions and later served as Chief of the Astronaut Office during the final years of shuttle operations.

Bio
Lindsey graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and earned a graduate degree in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. His Air Force career included operational flying and test-pilot work before NASA selected him in 1994.
He piloted STS-87 and STS-95, then commanded STS-104, STS-121, and STS-133. That record includes microgravity science, John Glenn's return to space, ISS airlock delivery, post-Columbia return-to-flight work, and Discovery's final mission.
As Chief of the Astronaut Office from 2006 to 2009, Lindsey helped lead astronaut operations during a period dominated by ISS assembly, shuttle retirement planning, and post-Columbia safety culture. His leadership role is as important as the flight count.
