Bio
Sheikh Muszaphar trained as a doctor before Malaysia selected him through the Angkasawan program, created through a Malaysian-Russian aerospace agreement. He and backup candidate Faiz Khaleed trained in Russia for Soyuz operations, survival, station adaptation, and medical/science tasks.
He launched aboard Soyuz TMA-11 on October 10, 2007 with Yuri Malenchenko and Peggy Whitson, then spent about ten days aboard the ISS. He returned aboard Soyuz TMA-10 on October 21, 2007 with Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Kotov.
Soyuz TMA-11 and Soyuz TMA-10 are the launch and return vehicles for one short-duration ISS visit, not two separate spaceflights. His completed record is one flight, no time, and 10 days, 20 hours, 14 minutes in space.
