Sergei Vasilyevich Avdeyev
Sergei Vasilyevich Avdeyev is a retired Russian engineer and cosmonaut who spent much of the 1990s aboard Mir. Before Sergei Krikalev and later ISS-era astronauts surpassed him, Avdeyev held the record for the most cumulative time in space.

Bio
Avdeyev studied experimental physics at Moscow Engineering Physics Institute and worked as an engineer for NPO Energia before his 1987 cosmonaut selection. His technical background suited Mir's long-duration maintenance-heavy environment, where crew members had to operate, repair, and adapt aging station systems.
He flew three long-duration Mir missions: Soyuz TM-15 in 1992-1993, Soyuz TM-22 in 1995-1996, and Soyuz TM-28 with return on Soyuz TM-29 in 1998-1999. The Mir EO labels describe station increments inside those transport missions, not separate launches.
Avdeyev's final mission lasted nearly 380 days and included a late-Mir period marked by limited funding, complex repairs, visiting crews, and preparation for the station's final years. His total record is three spaceflights, ten , and 747 days, 14 hours, 14 minutes in space.
