Bio
Gillis studied aerospace engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating in 2017 after early mentorship from former NASA astronaut Joseph Tanner. She began at SpaceX as an intern and moved into human spaceflight operations and astronaut training.
On Polaris Dawn, Gillis flew with Jared Isaacman, Scott Poteet, and Anna Menon aboard Crew Dragon Resilience from September 10 to September 15, 2024. The mission reached a high Earth orbit, conducted radiation and human-health research, and tested SpaceX's EVA suit.
Gillis participated in the mission's commercial EVA, spending about 7 minutes and 15 seconds outside the hatch while the entire Dragon cabin was depressurized. She completed one spaceflight totaling 4 days, 22 hours, 13 minutes.
