Bio
Kotov trained as a physician before joining the cosmonaut corps. His medical background was part of a Russian tradition of doctor-cosmonauts who supported crew health as human spaceflight moved into longer ISS .
He flew Soyuz TMA-10 for Expedition 15, Soyuz TMA-17 for Expeditions 22 and 23, and Soyuz TMA-10M for Expeditions 37 and 38. He commanded both Soyuz and station operations during later assignments. Expedition labels describe where he served aboard the ISS, but they should stay inside the transport cards rather than becoming separate flights.
