Bio
Manarov trained as an engineer and worked in the Energia environment before flying to Mir. His first mission, launched on Soyuz TM-4, became one of the landmark year-long station with Vladimir Titov.
He later returned to Mir on Soyuz TM-11, continuing the Soviet/Russian pattern of long-duration station operations, maintenance, visiting crews, and work. Across his career he completed seven spacewalks. The important story is not a pile of separate mission names, but two major Soyuz-launched long-duration Mir expeditions.
