Mirosław Hermaszewski
Mirosław Hermaszewski was a Polish Air Force officer and Intercosmos research cosmonaut who became the first Polish citizen in space. His flight was part of the Soviet-led Intercosmos program that brought allied nations into short-duration Salyut station missions.

Bio
Hermaszewski trained as a Polish military pilot before selection for the Intercosmos mission. His backup was Zenon Jankowski, and the prime crew paired Hermaszewski with Soviet Pyotr Klimuk.
Soyuz 30 launched in June 1978 and docked with Salyut 6. Hermaszewski conducted Polish and Soviet research during the visit before returning after just under eight days in space.
After the flight, he remained a prominent figure in Polish military and public life.
