Michael P. Anderson
Michael Phillip Anderson was an American Air Force officer, physicist, and NASA astronaut. Selected in NASA Astronaut Group 15 in 1994, he flew two shuttle missions and died during the Columbia accident.

Bio
Anderson studied physics and astronomy before serving in the United States Air Force. At NASA he first flew STS-89, a Shuttle-Mir docking mission that transferred crew and supplies during the final phase of the Shuttle-Mir program.
His second mission was STS-107, a dedicated Columbia research flight. Anderson served as payload , overseeing a broad science program in the SPACEHAB research module.
On February 1, 2003, Columbia broke apart during , killing Anderson and his six crewmates.
