Bio
Maurer studied materials science and engineering and worked in technical and research environments before ESA astronaut selection. He joined ESA's astronaut corps after the original 2009 selection cycle and trained for ISS operations, robotics, and .
Crew-3 launched in November 2021 aboard Crew Dragon Endurance. Maurer served as a during 66, supporting European, U.S., and international science aboard the station.
