Bio
Surayev trained as a military pilot and graduated from Russian aviation and military academies before selection to the cosmonaut corps in 1997. He served in backup assignments before his first ISS flight.
Soyuz TMA-16 launched Surayev to 21 and 22, and Soyuz TMA-13M returned him for Expeditions 40 and 41. Across the two missions he supported station operations, Soyuz vehicle activity, science, maintenance, and work.
After leaving active flight status, Surayev entered Russian politics.
