Leonid Ivanovich Popov

Bio
Popov trained as an Air Force pilot before cosmonaut selection. His first flight, Soyuz 35, launched him for the Salyut 6 EO-4 long-duration , where he and Valery Ryumin spent months aboard the station and hosted several visiting crews.
He returned to space on Soyuz 40, the Soviet-Romanian Intercosmos flight, and then on Soyuz T-5 for a Salyut 7 mission. These later flights show the station program's mix of long-duration operations, international visiting crews, and short research assignments.
Across his three missions, Popov logged more than 200 days in orbit.
