
Kenneth D. Bowersox
Kenneth Dwane Bowersox is a retired United States Navy officer, test pilot, NASA astronaut, and spaceflight executive. His career bridges early shuttle operations, Shuttle-Mir, 6, and later human-spaceflight leadership.

Bio
Bowersox graduated from the United States Naval Academy and completed graduate engineering study before becoming a Navy test pilot. NASA selected him with Astronaut Group 13 in 1990.
He flew four shuttle missions before commanding Expedition 6 aboard the International . Expedition 6 became especially significant because the Columbia accident occurred while the crew was in orbit, forcing a changed return plan aboard Soyuz TMA-1.
After leaving NASA, Bowersox worked in commercial space and later returned to NASA leadership roles.
