Bio
McArthur studied aerospace engineering at UCLA and oceanography at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Her graduate work involved underwater acoustics, seafloor instruments, and field operations before NASA selected her with Astronaut Group 18 in 2000.
She first flew on STS-125 in 2009, the final Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission. McArthur served as a , ascent and entry , and lead robotics operator, making her the last person to have hands on Hubble through the shuttle robotic arm.
She returned to orbit on SpaceX Crew-2 in 2021, launching in the same Crew Dragon seat her husband Bob Behnken had used on Demo-2. She served aboard the International during 65 and 66.
McArthur retired from NASA in 2025.
