Julie Payette
Julie Payette is a Canadian engineer, computer scientist, former CSA astronaut, and former Governor General of Canada. Her spaceflight career is centered on early International assembly and shuttle robotics, while her later public career made her one of Canada's most visible former astronauts.

Bio
Payette studied electrical engineering at McGill University and computer engineering at the University of Toronto before joining the Canadian Space Agency astronaut corps in 1992. She trained with NASA and became part of the shuttle-era group of Canadian astronauts who brought robotics and station-assembly expertise to ISS missions.
Her first flight, STS-96, was the first shuttle docking to the International Space Station and delivered logistics to the young station. Her second flight, STS-127, delivered elements of Japan's Kibo laboratory complex, and she served as a key robotic-arm operator and .
Payette later served as CSA chief astronaut, worked in science outreach and administration, and became Canada's Governor General from 2017 to 2021.
