Bio
Watkins studied geological and environmental sciences at Stanford University and earned a doctorate in geology from UCLA. Her science work included Mars surface processes and planetary geology, giving her an exploration-science background before her first flight.
She launched on SpaceX Crew-4 and served aboard the ISS during 67 and 68. The expedition labels belong inside the Crew-4 card because Crew Dragon Freedom was the transport flight.
Watkins became the first Black woman to serve a long-duration mission aboard the ISS. Her career connects representation, planetary science, aquanaut work, station operations, and her SpaceX Crew-13 assignment.
