Bio
Bachurin graduated from military flight school and later earned a mechanical-engineering qualification from the Moscow Aviation Institute. His test career covered aircraft including the Tu-22M, Su-24M, A-50, An-124, and An-225, giving him broad experience with large and technically demanding vehicles.
Selected for Buran work in 1978, he completed general space training and received test-cosmonaut qualification before joining the formal military Buran group. His analog flights exercised manual and automatic landing behavior, cockpit displays, and operational procedures.
The Buran program ended before Bachurin could receive an orbital flight. The OK-GLI campaign remains atmospheric test work, with zero completed spaceflights, time, or orbital duration.
