Donald Roy Pettit is an American chemical engineer, inventor, photographer, and NASA astronaut known for long-duration station work and unusually vivid science communication from orbit.

Bio
Pettit earned a chemical engineering degree from Oregon State University and a doctorate from the University of Arizona. Before NASA he worked as a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and participated in Antarctic meteorite search fieldwork.
His spaceflights include STS-113 / Soyuz TMA-1 for 6, STS-126, Soyuz TMA-03M for Expeditions 30 and 31, and Soyuz MS-26 for Expeditions 71 and 72. The expedition labels belong inside those transport flight cards, not as separate spaceflights.
Pettit is associated with orbital photography, practical microgravity demonstrations, and devices such as the Space Cup.
