Charles Owen Hobaugh

Bio
Hobaugh graduated from the United States Naval Academy and became a Marine aviator and test pilot. NASA selected him in the 1996 astronaut group as the shuttle program was moving into full ISS assembly operations.
He piloted STS-104, which installed the Quest Joint Airlock, and STS-118, which delivered the S5 truss and station spares. He later commanded STS-129, which delivered Express Logistics Carriers and external spare parts to the ISS.
Hobaugh retired from NASA in 2013 after three flights and more than thirty-six days in space. His career sits squarely in the practical ISS assembly and logistics period of the shuttle program.
