Bess launched with their father, Lane Bess, aboard New Shepard mission NS-19 on December 11, 2021. They became the first parent and child to fly to space together. NS-19 was also the first New Shepard human flight to carry the 's full six-person manifest.
The autonomous vehicle crossed the Kármán line during a suborbital flight from West Texas, after which the capsule descended under parachutes and the landed separately. Bess's participation joined personal representation, digital creativity, and a first-of-its-kind family milestone in one completed spaceflight.
