Bio
Cai graduated from the Baoding branch of the Changchun Flight Academy of the Air Force and served as a People's Liberation Army Air Force pilot before astronaut selection. China selected him in its second astronaut group in 2010.
He first flew on Shenzhou 14 in 2022, helping assemble and commission the Tiangong during a critical expansion period. He returned as of Shenzhou 19 in 2024-2025.
During Shenzhou 19, Cai and Song Lingdong completed a record-setting 9-hour, 6-minute EVA, followed by two more spacewalks. His record separates the two transport missions and lists the EVA work under the relevant flight cards.
