Bio
Duffy graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and completed pilot training in 1976. He flew F-15 assignments, graduated from the Air Force Test Pilot School, and worked in before NASA selected him in Astronaut Group 11.
He piloted STS-45 and STS-57, then commanded STS-72 and STS-92. STS-92 was especially important for ISS construction because it installed the Z1 truss and Pressurized Mating Adapter 3.
After retiring from NASA and the Air Force in 2001, Duffy moved into aerospace management with Lockheed Martin and later Orbital ATK/Northrop Grumman. His record reflects both the operational flying career and the later industry work.
