Boris Morukov
Boris Vladimirovich Morukov was a Russian physician, biomedical researcher, and cosmonaut who flew on STS-106 during the final preparation phase before the International received its first resident crew.

Bio
Morukov earned his medical degree from the Second Moscow Medical Institute in 1973 and completed a doctorate in space, aviation, and naval medicine in 1979. Much of his research centered on human adaptation to long-duration spaceflight, including bone and calcium metabolism.
He was selected for medical-cosmonaut work in the 1970s and became a research cosmonaut in 1989. Before flying, he coordinated human life-sciences experiments for the NASA-Mir program and helped connect Russian biomedical research with shuttle-station operations.
On STS-106 he served as a and operated biological research hardware while the crew delivered supplies and outfitted the ISS. Later he continued work in space biomedicine and Mars-analog simulation leadership.
