Bio
McClain graduated from the United States Military Academy and completed graduate study in aerospace engineering and international relations. Before NASA, she served as an Army aviator and test pilot with operational deployments.
NASA selected her with Astronaut Group 21 in 2013. She launched on Soyuz MS-11 for Expeditions 58 and 59, where she worked as a station and performed ISS EVA tasks.
She later commanded SpaceX Crew-10 and returned to the ISS during Expeditions 72 and 73. That second mission moved her from expedition flight engineer to spacecraft in the Commercial Crew era.
