Andrew S. W. Thomas
Andrew Sydney Withiel Thomas is an Australian-American aerospace engineer and former NASA astronaut. Selected in NASA Astronaut Group 14 in 1992, he became one of the key Shuttle-Mir astronauts and later returned to ISS shuttle work.

Bio
Thomas earned engineering degrees in Australia before moving into aerospace research and eventually becoming a United States citizen so he could pursue NASA astronaut selection. His first flight was STS-77, a shuttle mission focused on science, technology, and satellite experiments.
He launched to Mir on STS-89, served during Mir EO-24, and returned on STS-91, the final shuttle docking mission with Mir. His stay closed out NASA's long-duration experience-gathering phase before full ISS assembly.
Thomas later flew STS-102 and STS-114, the shuttle return-to-flight mission after Columbia.
