Bio
Mogensen earned an engineering degree from Imperial College London and a doctorate in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Before ESA selection, he worked in spacecraft guidance, navigation, control, and systems engineering.
ESA selected Mogensen in the 2009 group. His first flight, Iriss, launched on Soyuz TMA-18M in 2015 and returned on Soyuz TMA-16M after a short ISS visit. His second flight, Huginn, launched on SpaceX Crew-7 in 2023.
On Crew-7, Mogensen became the first non-American pilot of a Crew Dragon mission and later commanded ISS 70. In 2025 he became head of the European Astronaut Corps, giving his biography both flight and leadership context.
