Amanda Nguyen
Amanda Nguyễn is a bioastronautics researcher, civil-rights advocate, and commercial spaceflight participant. She studied at Harvard and conducted research connected with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, MIT, NASA, and the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences. Blue Origin also noted her work on the STS-135 and Kepler programs before her own flight.

Bio
Nguyễn became widely known for advocacy supporting survivors of sexual violence, work that brought international recognition. She described her flight as a symbol of reconciliation between the United States and Vietnam and an example of science serving peace.
Nguyễn launched aboard New Shepard mission NS-31 from West Texas on April 14, 2025. The first all-woman crew since 1963 crossed the Kármán line and returned under parachutes. Scales of justice on the patch represented her advocacy, while the mission made her the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman to fly to space.
