Aleksandr Vladimirovich Gorbunov
Aleksandr Vladimirovich Gorbunov is a Russian aerospace engineer and Roscosmos cosmonaut whose first mission became one of the more unusual Crew Dragon rotations. SpaceX Crew-9 launched with only two people and returned with four after NASA decided not to bring the Boeing Crew crew home on Starliner.

Bio
Gorbunov studied at the Moscow Aviation Institute and worked at Energia before cosmonaut selection. His preflight engineering work included Progress MS cargo spacecraft activity, which gave him a practical spacecraft-operations background before he became a test cosmonaut.
Selected in the 2018 Roscosmos group, Gorbunov trained during the era of NASA-Roscosmos integrated crew exchanges. He was assigned to SpaceX Crew-9 under that cross-seat arrangement and served as a aboard the International during 72. That prevents the record from counting a station expedition as a second launch.
